UNI-T UT258A AC/DC Leakage Clamp Meter- 60A

The UNI-T UT258A AC/DC Leakage Clamp Meter is a compact current measurement instrument designed for detecting and measuring AC and DC leakage current from 0mA to 60A. It uses CT and digital integration technology to provide non-contact current measurement, making it suitable for electrical inspection, automotive maintenance, power systems, and applications where access to tightly packed conductors is limited.

One of the key advantages of the UT258A is its slender 7mm clamp jaw, which allows the meter to access individual conductors in crowded wiring arrangements. This is particularly useful when conventional clamp meters cannot easily reach the conductor being tested. The instrument supports both AC and DC measurement, with automatic range selection and a 1mA resolution across its 60A measurement range.

For leakage-current testing, the conductor arrangement determines what the meter measures. In AC circuits, clamping the live and neutral conductors together allows the meter to detect the imbalance current flowing as leakage. For DC systems, the positive and negative conductors can be clamped together to measure leakage current. A single grounding conductor can also be measured when checking grounding-line leakage.

The UT258A includes a ZERO adjustment function, which helps compensate for residual magnetic effects and external induction before measurement. This is especially useful during DC measurements and after measuring higher currents. The meter also provides data hold, low-battery indication, automatic power-off, and overload protection.

For measurement records and analysis, the UT258A can store up to 99 groups of readings and provides an RS-232 interface for transferring stored data to a computer. This makes it useful for maintenance documentation, electrical inspections, and troubleshooting where measurement history needs to be retained.
