Overview
Description
RP-L-110 Thin Film Flexible Force Pressure Sensor
The RP-L-110 Thin Film Flexible Force Pressure Sensor is a slim resistive force-sensitive sensor designed to detect applied pressure and force through changes in electrical resistance. Its flexible film construction allows it to conform to surfaces and fit into applications where conventional rigid force sensors would be difficult to install. The sensor can detect both static and dynamic forces, making it suitable for robotics, embedded systems, human-machine interfaces, and electronic prototypes.
The RP-L-110 operates as a variable resistance device. When force is applied to its sensing area, the internal pressure-sensitive material changes its electrical resistance. As the applied force increases, the sensor resistance decreases, allowing a connected microcontroller, ADC, or measurement circuit to interpret the change as a force-related signal. This makes the sensor particularly useful for applications where relative force measurement or pressure detection is required.
With a nominal sensing range starting at approximately 20 g and extending to 10 kg or more, the sensor can respond to relatively light pressure as well as significantly higher applied loads. A triggering force of approximately 20 g is specified, with a default trigger resistance below 200 kΩ. When no pressure is applied, the resistance is typically greater than 10 MΩ.
The sensor has a thin, flexible sheet structure approximately 0.35 mm thick, allowing it to be integrated into compact mechanical assemblies and pressure-sensitive surfaces. Its narrow elongated form is useful for applications requiring a linear sensing area rather than a conventional circular force-sensitive resistor. Available specifications list dimensions around 118 mm × 12 mm, although physical dimensions can vary slightly between production versions.
Fast electrical response makes the RP-L-110 suitable for real-time interaction and control applications. The specified activation time is below 0.01 seconds, while the response time is below 10 ms. The sensor also exhibits low drift under a specified 2.5 kg load over 24 hours, supporting repeatable operation in suitable measurement conditions.
Because the RP-L-110 provides a resistance change rather than a direct calibrated voltage or digital output, it is normally connected to a suitable resistance-measurement or voltage-divider circuit. A microcontroller such as Arduino, ESP32, or another embedded platform can then read the resulting analog signal through an ADC. Proper calibration is recommended when the application requires quantitative force measurement rather than simple pressure detection.
